Mission Conference

CCCNJ 2018 Mission Conference
Our annual Mission Conference was held over the weekend of March 16-18 and was well attended by over three hundred people from all congregations.
It started with the exhibition of 100 plus posters of “The Contributions and Influences of Christianity to China”, All were moved by the stories of unselfish and sacrificial dedications of the many missionaries who labored and gave their lives in China.
Since the first missionary to China, Robert Morrison, arrived in China in 1807, hundreds and thousands of missionaries followed his footsteps and sacrificed their lives for spreading the seeds of the gospel in China and their efforts have yielded much fruits. Missionaries built numerous hospitals, schools, orphanages, churches and drug rehabilitation centers to help modernize China and brought much needed help to the Chinese people. There were many heroic and moving stories about the missionaries and they truly were the pioneers who initiated the exchange of the Eastern and Western cultures as they established the models of loving God and loving men in mission works.
Pastor Robert Chen from California shared messages from the perspectives of a missionary with the theme of “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. He encouraged the congregants to imitate the love and dedication of the missionaries. He pointed out the biblical principle of “to act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God” and reminded us to not just enjoy ourselves in this world but to share our blessings with others with thankful hearts. We should help the poor and the needy and follow the Great Commandment of loving God and loving men, so that others will also receive the benefits of the Gospel.
Pastor Kirk Thallman from Philadelphia shared with the English congregation on the theme of “The journey to fulfill God’s purposes”. He warned us to radically eradicate sins and not to lose our “saltiness”. He also cautioned us on the issues of “stubbornness” and “complaining” and the perils of letting our “emotions” control us.
He encouraged the congregants to have a  meek and gentle heart, and let God shape us as good vessels, and be used by God to lead more people to believe in the Lord.

Choir sang “Please send me” during the conference.
