STM - Domestic

Youth from Chinese Christian Church of New Jersey (CCCNJ) in Parsippany participated in Week of Hope, a GROUP Mission Trip, at a site in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from June 25 to 30th, 2017. Eighteen youth and three adult leaders from CCCNJ joined three other church youth groups with the purpose of drawing youth closer to Jesus through service to others.

There were several community service projects for the week such as helping the elderly with home repairs, serving at programs for disadvantaged children, and painting or small construction-type projects at churches. A number of groups were assigned to work at World Vision's Pittsburgh Global Distribution Center where donated products are sorted, processed, and prepared for domestic and international distribution. The large project was packing almost 2,000 backpacks for shipment to children around the world.  In addition to school supplies, hygiene items, a blanket, and hat were notes of encouragement written to accompany each backpack.
